Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What is Kohana?
A regulated prediction market where you trade shares in the outcomes of real-world events. A winning share pays 1.00; a losing one pays 0.00. See What is Kohana?.
Do I have to verify my identity?
No. An email account is enough to deposit and bet. Turning on 2FA raises your withdrawal limits automatically, and an ID only comes up if you want very high limits. See Account limits.
How old do I have to be?
You must be 18 or over and in a supported jurisdiction.
Money
How do I add funds?
Transfer a supported asset (usually USDC) from your own crypto wallet to your Kohana deposit address on Polygon or Solana. See Deposit funds.
Why is my available balance lower than my total?
Some of it is reserved by open orders or held in escrow by open positions. It returns to available when you cancel orders or markets settle. See Your wallet & assets.
How long do withdrawals take?
After you confirm (with a 2FA step-up), Kohana signs and broadcasts the transaction and it confirms on-chain, usually within minutes, depending on network congestion. See Withdraw funds.
I sent the wrong token or used the wrong network. Help!
Contact support immediately with the transaction hash. Recovery is not guaranteed and is often impossible, so always send the right asset on the right network.
Trading
What does a price like 0.62 mean?
It's the market's implied probability, about a 62% chance, and also the cost of one share. If that outcome wins, the share pays 1.00.
Can I sell before the event happens?
Yes. Your shares are tradeable any time the market is open, so you can take profit or cut a loss early. See Placing an order.
When do I get paid?
At settlement, automatically. Winning shares pay 1.00 each into your available balance; there's nothing to claim. See Positions & payouts.
What happens if a market is voided?
Committed funds are returned proportionally to position holders. See Market resolution.
Who decides the outcome?
The market's stated resolution source, with a dispute window (~12 hours) where a wrong result can be challenged before money moves. Disputed cases get a manual review. See Market resolution.
Account & security
How do I protect my account?
Turn on two-factor authentication, store your recovery codes offline, and review your active sessions.
I lost my authenticator device.
Sign in with a recovery code, then set up a new authenticator. Lost the codes too? Contact support and re-verify your identity.
Will support ever ask for my codes?
Never. Anyone asking for your 2FA code, recovery codes, or wallet keys is trying to scam you.
Still stuck?
Check the Glossary for unfamiliar terms, or contact support from within the app.
